Recreation

There are plenty of opportunities for adventure and excitement in White River, with year-round activity that will appeal to the whole family!

The warmer days provide the opportunity to integrate with nature. The surrounding lakes within the township’s jurisdiction (such as Blue Cedar Lake, Picnic Lake, Chain Lake, and Leo's Lake) provide an abundant fishing opportunity and water recreational activity.  The dry-land provides just as much excitement, with ATV’s, trail hikes, softball or wild blueberry picking.  However, one of the most enticing activities of all during the third weekend of August is the Winnie-the-Pooh festival, a celebration of Winnie’s discovery and originally held by the White River museum.

The excitement doesn’t stop during the winter months. The three-pad ice arena located in the community centre provides the ability to play a diverse range of ice sport including but not limited to hockey, curling, and figure skating.  The newly renovated facility also consists of a fitness centre, as well as bar and a stage for theatrical entertainment. Or if you rather take in the cool weather try some cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing on the old ski hill, or snowmobiling on groomed trails.
